Miguel Ferrando

Miguel Ferrando's paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed-media works explore memory, place, and identity through a richly personal visual language rooted in the Dominican Republic and downtown New York. Working across found materials, collage, and expressive figuration, he drew upon recurring observations of Santo Domingo, Caribbean vernacular culture, and the queer creative communities that shaped his life. Though his career was tragically cut short by AIDS-related causes in 1996 at age 38, Ferrando remained steadfastly committed to a singular artistic vision independent of prevailing trends.
